Richard B. Russell, Jr. Home Renovation Sneak Peek

Location: Richard B. Russell, Jr. Home in Winder

Date / Time: 11/13/2016 2:00 PM

The family of Richard B. Russell, Jr. is currently undertaking a restoration of the family home in Winder, Georgia. Though the renovations are not complete, Athens Historical Society has been generously invited to see the home and the progress that has been made so far.

A member of the familly board overseeing the renovations, Nannette Russell Kallestaad, will show us the restorations and improvements made to the house, as well as the areas that still require completion. The restoration is funded by family groups within the Russell family (he was the fourth of fifteen children) sponsoring different rooms of the house, thus the slow time to revitalize the home.

This AHS Ramble is members-only, and limited to just 20 people. We will give information regarding parking, directions, estimated length of event at that time. Please be aware that the Russell House is still a renovation site, and a private home, and is not ADA-compliant.

If you are a member, and are interested in taking an early look at the restoration of this lovely 1912 home, please email us at AthensHistorical@gmail.com with "Russell Ramble" in the subject line to reserve your space, with name, number attending, and a telephone number by November 7th.

If you are not a member, and are interested in seeing the home, please join AHS, and then email AthensHistorical@gmail.com to reserve your space! We'd absolutely love to have you with us!
